New York & the Triad

July 6, 2005
Thanks to everyone who came to the show at the Triad in NYC. You all made the night for me. What a great, warm group you are!
Special thanks go out to Lenore, Susan, Melody, Tanya (sound person extraordinary) and the whole Triad staff. Not to mention all the family and cousins. I'm now spoiled for small, quiet rooms with no cellphones or Freebird.
Love ya all

Video Crazy!

June 27, 2005
OK Here's a new Idea I had last night.
I'm going to start putting a new video up on the website each week.
You see, I've been video taping my rehearsal sessions in the studio lately.
The reason was so I could see if I was doing stupid stuff on stage. And also to time the songs for the sets.
What you'll be seeing are unedited, mistakes, telephone calls, and all, versions of the new songs from the "Dream Painted Room" CD.
It's kind of cool to see where they eventually go.
It's also interesting to see what makes me fall off the chair.
Nyan walked in on a few of them, and played some A-minor chords.
So start checking the video clip section of the press kit next week. I'll be back from New York and back at it in the studio.
You can even email me and tell me which versions of the new songs you prefer.

It's Saturday morning and I'm doing the lettering on my new flight cases for the gut string guitars. I'm done fighting with the airlines to put a guitar in the overhead.
It's way too stressful! (Although I did learn to argue about it in a few languages)
These new cases only weigh 12 lb. each. I can deal with that. Not like the old days!
Thanks to everyone who is planning to come to the show at the Triad.
I have received lots of offers of places to stay and eat. I love you all so much.
It's great to have so much friendly/loving support.
I'll do an update soon about the "Festival of the Sea" in Key Largo July 30.
It's going to be big!
Please sign the new guest book and let me know what's happening out there.

The Studio

So...this new easy to update website does not have a link to the studio. I know. But it's OK.
The artists that are currently in there are finishing up their projects in the next few weeks, I hope. Then I will be focusing on my solo CD's completion.
I am however planning a site dedicated just for the studio. Complete with a live webcam.
That way you can watch some of the awesome musicians at work.
Meanwhile, Sessions recording, (across the street) has a wonderful facility with Jesse at the helm.
They get the best drum sound in the keys! And have added a new (vintage) 2" Tape deck. Sounds Great.
This weekend is a rainy practice session. Suzi and Nyan have gone to visit our good friends Tina and Renata. Happy birthday Teens!
So I've taken over the house and studio with music and scraps of paper. Did I feed the fish???
Raining in the Keys

Two days of rain and the studio almost flooded last night. I'll be doing some fancy landscaping this week in prep for hurricane season.
Thanks for all the good wishes after my accident.
Still a little loopy, like a stuffed animal right out of the dryer. And now I'm sporting a Harry Potter scar on my forehead. Sara thinks it's hot.
Playing Music on the guitar
-
June 9, 2005
In answer to that question:
I always like to practice and play music. I get real down when I don't make the time. Things then get too fast and I rush to find that place where I can be surrounded and infused with music, so I disappear and it's just the voice of the universes singing.
Of coarse one can never rush to that place. It's elusive if it's chased.
And sometimes practice is simply a delightfully never ending journey of discovery. The more slowly one goes, the more flowers are discovered along the way. And that's really the destination anyway.
So when you find me slowing down to smell the flowers occasionally, it's only because they are so sweet.
And that glimpse of god that I am looking for is nearby.

I'm gonna be right with the world
I'm gonna tell you I love you,
Cause I feel like I must.
I'm gonna do what moves me to the light I can trust.
I'm gonna live in the spirit, and flow like the breeze.
And I'm keeping my heart open so that I can truly be
Right with the world.
I’m gonna be right with the world.
